Dental Implants Overview
If you have lost a tooth due to damage or decay, dental implants are an effective solution with long-term benefits, keeping your smile both healthy and functional. Implants work by integrating into the jawbone for a strong foundation, essentially replacing the root of the tooth. Made Ya Smile uses titanium posts in addition to crowns, dentures, bridges or other restorations to replace your missing teeth. Experienced practitioner Dr. Tuan (Anthony) Ly offers complete, comprehensive solutions to patients in Missouri City, TX with dental implants for tooth replacement. If you have lost a natural tooth, don't let it affect your quality of life, including the ability to speak and eat your favorite foods. Best Candidates for Mouth Guards
Dental implants can replace one or more teeth in either the lower or upper arches of the mouth. Made Ya Smile uses implants as an effective tooth replacement solution that integrates directly into the jawbone, making it a permanent and durable option for patients who have missing or damaged teeth beyond repair. You may not be a candidate for dental implants, however, if you use tobacco products, have certain medical conditions or concerns, or are currently pregnant. More than that, dental implants require support from the bone in the jaw, so if you are suffering from bone loss, Dr. Ly may need to perform a bone grafting procedure before moving forward. Once the post has integrated fully into the bone through a process called osseointegration, Made Ya Smile will create a custom restoration or dental appliance that securely attaches to the post.
What To Expect with Dental Implants
Dr. Ly and the skilled staff at Made Ya Smile use the latest advanced dental technology to plan for your dental implant and the following restoration. We use 3D cone beam imaging for a complete view of your head and mouth to determine the best outcome and confirm you have enough supporting bone for the procedure. If you are nervous about the procedure, we will offer a few sedation options to help you feel more comfortable. To place the implants, we will numb the area completely, then make an incision in the gums to position the titanium posts. We will then suture the area, leaving a portion of the post exposed. In the next few months, the implants will naturally integrate into the bone. We will give you a temporary restoration while the area heals based on your situation and needs. Once the healing process has been completed, Dr. Ly will discuss options for a permanent restoration such as a bridge or crown.
Dental Implants Recovery
Once the dental implants have been placed, Made Ya Smile will give you instructions about the healing process. If you experience any concerns issues, please contact our team so we can schedule a follow-up appointment and check the site. Patients may have some bruising or swelling that can be relieved with pain medication and cold compresses. Typically, implants take roughly 3 – 6 months for the process of osseointegration to be complete. Afterward, Dr. Ly will take an impression of the area to send to a special lab where we can make a permanent restoration for tooth replacement such as bridges and dentures. When you return for your next visit, we will bond the restoration in place and make sure it fits securely. As for at-home care, patients should care for their implants just like their natural teeth with consistent brushing and flossing. At your routine visits with Made Ya Smile, our skilled staff will check the implant and restoration to make sure it is working as intended.
Dental Implants Insurance Coverage
To learn if your dental health insurance plan provides coverage for dental implants, Made Ya Smile will have our administrative team reach out to your provider. Since we want all patients to have access to care, we partner with third-party financing solutions such as CareCredit® and offer an in-house plan. Our staff will gladly review all of your options so your procedure and restorations will work with your requirements and budget.
